I provide my departing residents with a list of my approved vendors for cleaning, carpets and yard. If they do NOT use them and I have to REdo inferior work, I charge a 20% service charge from their deposit!
Most property managers require a tenant to have the carpets in home they rented professionally steam cleaned at the end of their lease. Recently, some tenants have purchased Groupons to get the cleaning done. The problem is that firms who utilize groupons give a lower priority to those service calls because they don't make as much money on them. Consequently, a tenant may find that their lease ends March 31, but their groupon cleaner will not schedule until the middle of April. What hapens in that situation? The tenant will either have to pay for carpet cleaning elsewhere or have it taken from their security deposit.
Groupons (and similar services will continue to crop up) can be great for some services, but be careful when purchasing these non-refundable items because you might not be getting what you really need.
