PropertyManagementMaven: Why there will never be a FairHousingGate!!!

The term "gate" is now commonly being used to expose government fraud - Watergate is the DC landmark made famous by the burglars who broke into the DNC hq in the mid-70s....WATERGATE became the scandal that brought down the Nixon White House.

Several "gates" have come forward from IranGate involving guns for hostages; CamillaGate involving telephone conversations between Camilla Parker-Bowles and Prince Charles: and NOW we have ClimateGate involving the bogus science surrounding the Global Warming/Climate Change hysteria.

....But, there won't be a FairHousingGate....there SHOULD be, but there won't.  

Complainants (prospects or tenants) don't want the fact that they filed a complaint to be known to future landlords * this is why the complaint itself is usually filed in the name of a state or fair housing agency * sometime the Department of Justice * so acknowledging the complainant is a no-no!!

Defendant (housing providers), while their names are known from the complaint, are barred from discussing or even acknowledging that they are a party to a complaint.

I have been a party to a fair housing complaint and have been fairly open about it * my name appeared on the state's real estate and fair housing websites for a few years.  Since the complaint was CLOSED * EVERYTHING about the case has been expunged * including from the state real estate website * like it NEVER happened.

Now * on the web * there are numerous listings of fair housing complaints * either in process or after they were closed because fair housing agencies are having their funding cut and they need to stay in business.....the easiest way to keep complaints coming in is to publicize them and these are being listed on the Fair Housing website http://www.fairhousing.com/   Most of the items listed are from newspapers AFTER complaints have been settled and where the fair housing agencies are tooting their own horn.

So.....unless a serious hacker can get into the HUD or DoJ websites to see how data and testimony are manipulated, how this extorting of the nation's housing providers is actually done and for what purpose will be kept secret.
