Like many families in the late 50s and early 60s, our's grew up on Bonanza. We watched it as a family in front of the television eating on tv trays.
Pernell Roberts was my FAVORITE Cartwright brother * Adam. I wrote and got autographed photos of him and David Janssen who played Richard Diamond, Private Detective (Mary Tyler Moore was the "leggy" switchboard operator) and Janssen was The Fugitive on tv.
Pernell Roberts died of cancer on Sunday at his home in Malibu at the age of 81. His only son, Chris, died in a motorcycle accident in 1989.
Roberts was born in Georgia and was a Korean War vet and supported the US civil rights movement and marched in Selma, AL with Martin Luther King, Jr.

Born in 74 and grew up on Bonanza............. Still watch re-runs when they are on.
LOVED THAT SHOW.
Melissa * I think it was the first time I saw a Chinese person. We did not have any in South Carolina!
People think that celebrity political activism started with Sarandon/Roberts/Penn and Clooney - it did not!
Shucks, I am far too young for these shows- growing up in another country is also a factor! Always a point of frustration for my friends and co-workers. Gidget who?
PS. I LOVE your wall. Looking forward to the new season!
Growing up with 11 siblings was fun, and we always would sit on the floor and watch Bonanza. It was indeed a great show during that time.
Ellie * Roberts was the last member of a very FAMOUS tv show of the late 50s/60s
Rebecca * Bonanza is a family show and the good guys always won!
