USPS announced that they were suspending mail delivery to NoVA, DC and parts of MD on Saturday. Their spokesperson announced that the continued blizzard conditions in the area has made this decision necessary. Additionally, approximately 150,000 to 180,000 customers in WVA, VA and PA have lost electricity due to downed power lines blamed on ice and the weight of the snow accummulation, Emergency agencies are asking that people with 4WD volunteer to get doctors and medical personnel in to area hospitals. According to Wikipedia * The United States Postal Service has no official creed or motto. Often falsely cited as such, "Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds"is an inscription on the James Farley Post Office in New York City, derived from a quote from Herodotus' Histories (8.98), referring to the ancient courier service of the Persian Empire:

Looks like you have some bad weather; I am glad I am not there. We have to worry about hurricanes in our area. I guess everyone has something they have to worry about.
I just don't want my DirectTV to go down with SpeedWeeks from Daytona coverage on today!!! Gotta see Danica in her FIRST NASCAR race
Wallace - Global Warming has hit Virginia - please write your President about your concerns -
You seem to be experiencing the winter conditions we had last year. This year, we're having Spring, and next week we welcome the world to the 2010 Winter Olympics! Bizarre weather, indeed.
I have Diet Pepsi, power is back on and DirectTV is working * I'm good!!
Wallace..wow--that is some snow fall; so happy to share our usual winter with others, It is good to share right, sure it is. Now, onto the important items, glad to see that you have your power restored, so you are set for a good day from now on. We only have the cold & colder temps. here, really am glad to NOT have the snow. Getting tired of it; we're ready to move SE. Have a good weekend and a better week ahead.

Life is good * less than 2 hours to my first NASCAR race of the season!!!
Enjoy the race Wallace, I hope your direct tv stays on.
Mine never worked here in Texas. A hummingbird could fly past my dish and I'd lose the signal.
Go Danica :)
Wallace, so far in my neck of the woods we have kept power. I'm amazed it has stayed on this long. Not sure if we are getting out tomorrow. We should get an RX filled. Ran out of time before the snow hit. Will have to see what the roads look like tomorrow.
I have a 4 wheel drive but I'm not anxious to go out there with the roads freezing now.
Melissa * DirectTV went off 1X last week for about 3 hours and I have illegal antenna for local channels so I was good....Like Bonnie * I have some dvds and my kindle if all else fails!!
Wallace- I had to fire up my generator a few weeks ago. Good thing to have.
Wallace, I can forgive them for not delivering my mail for a few days. I tried to cross my street last night for pot luck at a neighbor's, and I almost turned back. It was thigh high! When I finally made it, I almost stayed the night. It's an amazing storm.
I'll go to our local post office tomorrow to collect rents I get at a post office box there....
