PropertyManagementMaven: Why I re-blog....it's not about ME, it's about the VALUE of the POST

Why I re-blog....it's not about ME, it's about the VALUE of the POST

I read a recent blog from a long-time AR member who says he is no longer allowing re-blogs of his posts and that the is not re-blogging.

I think this is very sad....and here's why...

Often, posts I re-blog are only posted in an AR channel * nothing to AR groups * this is unfortunate if the information is meaningful and relevant to our business.

Posts are often posted to only 5 groups * there are 6,000+ groups out there * the information is not getting to many AR members who might find the post AND comments as useful.

Lastly, much of the information on the ins/outs of AR are very valuable to our experience and use of the site.  Re-bloging this information is really a duty in many respects so that everyones' experience can be enhanced and made more valuable.

As for me....re-blog my posts!!!  I'll consider it a compliment!!!

Waynette * I deleted your duplicate posts from the "proxy burp"....thank you.  I view AR as a sharing experience and sharing information with others is a duty of members to make the experience as valuable as it can be for all.

Sorry, I missed your earlier post.

True about re blogging with something relating to your profession or note worthy.

I read earlier about a woman who bloged about her anniversaryand it was re-bloged lol

I re-blog at times when the content is, in my opinion, important and worthy of additional exposure.

Wallace,

I am so glad you said that, as I was about to re-blog your tips for getting your home ready to lease:-)

Sometimes folks have said something well that you just hadn't gotten to writing about or didn't know about, either way, it's a win!

To each his own.

All the best, Michelle

Don * many re-bloggers disable comments when they re-blog and most don't post to their outside blog so keeping that information to within the confines of groups that might benefit is key.

Michelle * no problem!!!

Wallace - I think re-blogging is a terrific idea. I love when people reblog my posts, I think it's a great compliment and it makes me feel as if I have contributed something. And, I do reblog other's posts if I think they should have wider visibility. Thanks for the great post.

Mike * no problem.....I too think that the sharing aspect of AR is not acknowledged enough * it's not all about us * it's about US!!!

Wallace, I completely agree, I often re-blog because the information is good, solid info that will assist others, it shouldn't matter that someone other than myself created the post.

I agree Wallace, re-blog for the value of the content and it is a nice compliment when you're re-blogged.

Thank you and I totally agree.  That's how information gets out - otherwise we could post to ALL of the GROUPS at one time.

Wallace:  I am coming around to agree that re-blogging can be a good thing.  I have not done so very much in the past... but it appears I need to re-think this.

By the way... how cool is this ?  I have seen several Active Rainers re-blog this blog post about re-blogging.  Sounds like they got the point, too.

Thank you Karen Anne * It helps to get the word OUT and if someone does not want to do it...they they should not - JUST don't put down others who do and do it well

Wallace this is great information. I am just learning about "re-blogging" as I have been away from Active Rain for awhile.
