The Volt can travel 40 miles on its battery charge and an additional 340 miles on a gasoline-powered generator.

GM has a NEW Edsel

I actually REMEMBER the Edsel and I suspect there are few at GM or the White House who remember this automotive FIASCO or why nobody puts their son's names on their auto models any more.

While area Realtors may have a Prius or Lexus h model, I suspect few will buy a vehicle that has to have an EXPENSIVE after market "docking station" and SIT for 3 to 4 hours to charge in order to go ANOTHER 40 miles.

I DROVE 130 miles yesterday showing rental properties in 3 counties.  It is not WORTH my TIME to BUY or DRIVE this vehicle!

Same here.  40 miles will get me to the gym and back, but it isn't enough to take a buyer on a tour of homes for sale.

Of course, the tax payer is subsidizing buyers of this clunker to the tune of $7,500.  Another government subsidy transferring money from one group to a favored group, as in transfer of wealth or social engineering by tax subsidy.

Hate it.  Hate it.  Hate it.

They have ADMITTED it won't be a volume vehicle * DUDAH!  Why manufacture and SUBSIDIZE it then?

That $7500 won't last forever.  And when it stops, so will the Volt.

Why build it, why not? After all, they don't need to sell enough vehicles to break even when G.M. takes taxpayer dollars to keep the company (union) solvent!

P.S. First take taxpayer dollars to support the auto unions, then take more taxpayer $ to subsidize consumers that buy their cars? Talk about out of control!

Kevin.  Mmmmm.  It appears that I need to look at a new group.

This is just another case of the government pushing an agenda without caring for the consequences.  There has to be a better way to get off oil; I don't want to plug in my car.

Such as waste!!! Wasn't proper research even done on this? 40 Miles??? charge for nearly 4 hours? Such as waste of time, energy and  money... yes we will loose money with time lost and that constant charging!
