I am pleased when they give the reasons for these rankings and housing, employment AND the local/state political climates are all in the mix. I am surprised at Phoenix, Oklahoma City and MIAMI??

Woo hoo... We didn't make the list. I can breathe again. There are some real armpits there, though.
Interesting Wallace, having lived in New Jersey 10 years ago I can understand how Newark made the list. Phoenix and Oklahoma surprised me also.
I'd like to point out this is yet another reason to move to Maine: we may never have had a Miss America winner but we've also never had a city on this list... in fact, Portland is regularly named one of America's best cities!
