About Dave:

Dave Phillips is the Chief Executive Officer for the Charlottesville Area Association of REALTORS®, a 1200 member trade association that serves the real estate industry in central Virginia. CAAR owns and operates the Real Estate Weekly, the Central Virginia School of Real Estate and the Charlottesville Multiple Listing System (MLS). Dave publishes quarterly reviews on the local real estate market on the association’s web site www.caar.com and is widely quoted in news stories related to real estate.

In addition to his “real” job, Dave is a prolific speaker and an accomplished writer on a variety of different topics. He has been published in local, state, and national trade magazines and websites on topics ranging from leadership to technology. He has completed his first political suspense novel, For Reasons Unknown (www.forreasonsunknown.net), and started on his second work of fiction. As a speaker/trainer, he has addressed thousands of students across the United States and Canada and has guest lectured at the University of Virginia and Virginia Tech.

 

What his promotional material and bio won't tell you is how MUCH Dave has done for our Realtor Association.  He came from the Virginia Association of Realtors to head our association when it was in turmoil.  The members and staff were demoralized and there had been an attempt to start a second association by those who were unhappy with the status quo and the leadership.  There was also a lingering lawsuit against the association owned real estate publication by the local GIANT daily newspaper that was eating member dues.

Dave, in his quiet way, came in and turned the situation around in a few short months.  He brought our association to the 21st century and made a lot of friends along the way.  Through his efforts and mentoring, several of our association leaders have gone on to be leaders of our state and national Realtor association. 

He will be a GREAT asset for the Realtors in PA and he will become a WONDERFUL friend.....he LOVES to write * I hope he keeps us posted on his success through his ActiveRain blog!!!

I find it interesting that he has an AR blog.

What association in PA is he going to?  Or the state Association ? 

I have always wondered why VA is so much more evolved in so many ways when it comes to technology in real estate.

He is going to head state association....there was a going away party for him yesterday and I chided him about abandoning his AR blog and he indicated he will get back to it and keep us up to date on his activities and new life in PA.

 

We have had 3 state association presidents from our association in the last 10 years because of Dave's mentoring!!!
