In a small stroke of irony, WHCS Rahm Emanuel RENEWED the lease on his Chicago home 6 days BEFORE the current mayor announced he was not running for re-election. Emanuel has long wanted THAT job!!!
The current residents of Emanuel's home on N. Hermitage rented the home a year ago from an internet ad. He works from the home and has 2 children in nearby schools. The family signed an additional lease renewal through June 2011 and Emanuel needs the RESIDENCE address in order to run for mayor.
Evidently frequent FRANTIC calls to the tenants have not elicited the CORRECT or "moving" response and so the White House is spinning the delay in his resignation announcement in order to have the CORRECT address either owned or rented for the filing paperwork.
Craigslist, Rahm! Craigslist!!!

I'm not sure any rules apply here. I am surprised that anyone thinks they should...
The last mayor that we had, Larry Langford, was not a resident of Birmingham. He lived in a suburb of Birmingham (Fairfield) and everyone knew it. And he continued to live there after he was elected. Just before he filed to run for mayor, he rented a condo downtown and furnished it basically enough to have football parties on Sundays. Want to know where is is now? Right where he should be. You'll get a hoot out of this one.
School Bus Nagin moved his family from NO to Houston after Katrina and still ran and won re-election for mayor
I guess for some people the rules do not apply. It is all about them. So sad for this country.
Do they really need to have a vote? Why not make Rahm Emanuel official lifetime Chicago mayor - they deserve him for giving us Obama
Congratulations this post is now featured in the Silent Majority Group of Active Rain.
I'm from chicago. It seems that the more things change the more they stay the same.
Hmmm, Chicago seems to have a past of slightly (shall we say) suspicious elections. I might be wrong but wasn't the Windy City involved in some sketchy election stuff in the 1960 election and also the voter fraud where they were telling people they weren't eligible to vote in 2004?
LOL..."Craigslist, Rahm, Craigslist." I'm surprised he's even worried about the appearance of having a legal residence there...it IS Chicago, after all. It's business as usual.
Apparently he is now RENTING in Chi-town. Wonder why Obama would not let him camp at his manse?
